India REACH: Latest Developments

India-REACH is India’s chemical regulation currently in draft stage known as “Draft Chemicals (Management and Safety) Rules, 20xx” or CMS Rules 20xx.
The rules shall come into force on the date of their publication in the official gazette, expected to come in force during 2021 and shall apply to all Substances, Substances in Mixtures/Articles and Intermediates that are Manufactured, Imported, Placed or intended to be Placed in Indian Territory above 1 tonne per year. These Rules covers safety procedures for the Manufacture, handling and Import of Hazardous Chemicals and preparedness and management of chemical accidents related to hazardous chemicals.
Foreign entities can submit notification & its annual update, registration and other compliances for priority substances by appointing an Authorized Representative in India to fulfil legal obligations required under these rules. In addition local companies are required to comply with requirements of hazardous chemicals.
