On the 7th of February 2023, the European Chemicals Agency (ECHA) published the long-awaited “universal” PFAS restriction proposal prepared by the competent authorities in Denmark, Germany, the Netherlands, Norway and Sweden. PFAS (per-and polyfluoroalkyl substances), notorious for their presence in everyday products like food packaging, firefighting foam, textiles, and industrial sectors such as defence, automotive and construction, have raised serious concerns about their detrimental effects on human health and the environment.
