The ESPR will set out a new framework to enable the setting of new ecodesign requirements to make products more environmentally sustainable, in particular more durable, reliable, reusable, upgradable, reparable, easier to maintain, refurbish and recycle, energy and resource efficient. It also requires that all regulated products in the EU will have Digital Product Passports (DPP) to make it easier to repair them or recycle them as well as facilitate tracking of substances of concern in products along the supply chain. The planning for the DPP has also advanced significantly under the EU-funded CIRPASS project.
